Warm Christmas

December 28, 2016 in Uncategorized

It is extremely rare to have a white Christmas where I live in middle Tennessee. It is likewise extremely rare for the weather to be sunny and in the 70s as it was yesterday. Christmas morning I started out with my usual bath robe but as my wife and I started cooking breakfast and later Christmas dinner, our small house became quite warm. I stepped outside to cool down a bit and realized just how beautiful the weather was. I soon discarded the robe and took the dog for a naked walk around the neighborhood. I was the one naked, not the dog. Typically the 25th of December here is sweater or light jacket weather but to be able to go completely sans all clothing was just heavenly. Because the house was still quite warm as dinner was ready, we moved outside and had Christmas dinner on our deck, yes naked. I sincerely hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas whether or not you had the opportunity to be naked.

I don't get it!

Hi, I'm Terry and I am a nudist. Yes, that's right, I prefer to live life without clothes. In fact, my wife and I live in a nudist community where being naked is expected. If I answer the door I do so naked and my neighbors expect to see me at that door naked as they are also naked. I find it a wonderful way of life. Here however is the exception, we are in the throughs of WINTER. I do not like, nor will I ever like cold weather.

This is not the first time I have been a member of a nudist/naturist social media site. I find it interesting to find out about other nudists across the country and across the world. On these sites, people often post photos of their nude activities; sometimes they are doing mundane things such as housework or sitting at a desk doing paperwork and sometimes hiking in the countryside or playing at a beautiful beach. I always find these pictures of nude life interesting. The old addage about a picture being worth a thousand words is never more true than here.

Then there are the brave people who like to post pictures taken of themselves in the snow. Yes, naked in the snow. Sometimes the pictures are of them makeing snow angels and sometimes pictures of them doing other things. The ones that blow me away though are the pictures of people cross country or down hill skiing. I can almost understand making a nude snow angel, you open the door, run outside and quickly lay in the snow to make the angel impression and then about 5 or 6 seconds into it, you can run back into a warm house and everything is great. I have to admit I was once tempted for a few seconds to do it. Make that more like a few nano-seconds. Then my senses came back to me with a resounding "hell no".

My hat is off, as well as all my other clothes, to those people who want to be naked enough to do such things. I have the utmost respect for you. Never the less, I don't get it!

A couple of years ago I was a conversation with a nudist friend. We were wondering why we hadn't seen a particular person at our resort in a long while. This person, like so many, felt she needed to keep her nudist activities a secret from all but the few nudists she associated with. My friend said, "I will be glad when she comes out of the closet". Although I knew what my friend meant, I wonder why the use of that phrase. The person referred to was not gay.

It dawned on me that I had heard that same "out of the closet" phrase used in other situations also. The gay community has been using that expression for a long time and for most people it is a reference to being openly gay and not hiding about who they really are. Why then are we commondeering that expression for ourselves? I think the nudist/naturist community need a descriptive statement of our own.

After some thought on the matter, let me propose: TAKING OFF. It is a double entendra, symbolic of both taking off the clothes, vestments, or social costumes that belie who we really are and the soaring with the freedom like the beautiful bird when it takes off.

I am presenting this for your consideration; please let me know your thoughts on the matter.
