I am thinking of the Bridget Jones first movie with that wondrous sweater a la Colin Firth
-
Thinking of the warm weather in Ecuador right now…I took this a few years ago. White-bellied Woodstars are the little hummers and the larger is a Buff-tailed Coronet. Birds have the coolest names.
-
We’ve taken down our hummingbird feeder for the season, but we’re keeping the seed feeders full. Lots of birds, mainly of about 5 types. The only ones I can recognize for sure are cardinals, and maybe cedar waxwings. I’m going to have to get a bird recognition guide, I think.
-
My nectar feeders are down also. You may still see the occasional hummer in Texas though. I’d recommend either a Sibley or Kaufman guide to birds. Sibley has a great western US book.

Cold Duck…no ice…

It’s too cold for me to hike nude anymore…so here’s the only moon I’ll show for a while!
-
it is so so hot and humid here in Queensland David……… preferring to stay indoors in the aircon…….. naturally
-
Trade?
-
might take you up on that kind offer David……… born and bred in Brisbane but still can’t handle our summers, and getting worse as I get older I loved my time in winter in Switzerland with friends
-
What a deal!
-
You’ll have to do my job by the way…
-
now that is a deal I can’t resist but suspect you could, easily, as I have no qualifications whatsoever in your field of excellence
Coincidentally, I saw 3 pairs of blue wrens from the kitchen window at my partners home over the weekend……. managed some pictures on my phone will post later on they were exquisite……….. have seen them…[Read more] -
All of your birds would be new to me!…and my job isn’t that hard, as long as you can count, not cut your fingers off and use the American measuring system you’d be fine…sort of…

You obviously have great patience when photographing birds and considerable skill live your beautiful pics
-
Thanks! More patience and luck is what does it.
-
indeed what was it that Edison said about inspiration and dedication and perhaps serendipity as well
-
Serendipity is the perfect word.
-
yes it is and it has such a mellifluous sound to it as well it just could not be a bad thing with such a beautiful melodic sound hope you agree

This is visitor number 50 at my little feeder set up. I’ve been out looking for Red-breasted Nuthatches a few times this month with no luck. Then I spot one at my feeder. I guess I should just bird from home!
-
I don’t often photograph gulls, but this Bonaparte’s Gull in his winter plumage just got to me.
-
I’ve been looking for a Northern River Otter for years. They are all around the area I live in, until I show up. At long last, this one popped up just long enough for one shot!
-
I spied this juvenile Pied-billed Grebe zig zagging among the reeds this past fall.
-
I photographed this Trumpeter Swan as a flock flew right over my head. The sound and the feeling of the breeze was amazing.

Merry Christmas everyone!
I have a new sweater, my family laughed luckily. It’s a naked Santa AND it lights up…the ultimate in silliness! Though it’s more comfortable without the sweater…-
Hey David, you look so much more relaxed in the naked pic. Nice to see your photos again! Thanks for posting.
-
Merry Christmas. Love it.
-
Great pics love the sweater but agree nude looks more relaxed
-
Everybody looks better nude. When half in sweater and half naked – it is odd look.
-
Yep…very odd!…it made me laugh though!

This was my first time “canuding” in August. I had a hat because my dermatologist told me to wear a hat if nothing else and a life vest because I can’t swim. What a great time! We surprised a few other folks on the river when they noticed none of us were covered!
-
This was a couple months ago at my favorite park. It was raining lightly and it felt great, though a bit chilly. No matter, no one was around and I had the place to myself!
-
My special kitty friend “Stinkie” is still a little wary of my Christmas tree…probably a good thing!
-
A Cooper’s Hawk at the edge of a meadow waiting for dinner to fly by. He tried to chase down a Mourning Dove without success.
-
I’m back to birding and back to posting my feathered friends! This Eastern Bluebird was from last week, finding berries to fill his tummy.

Happy Christmas to all of my naked friends…and even the ones with clothes!

I was out birding (dressed) last month and met a nice couple from Colorado. Two of the main birds on their list to see were Northern Cardinal and Blue Jay. Some other birders in the area didn’t take them seriously. I told them just because these birds are common to us doesn’t mean they’re common to everyone!
These don’t often make it to the…[Read more] -
